Our client is an established UK-based designer and manufacturer of advanced electronic solutions for the defence and aerospace sectors. With a global reputation for precision engineering, innovation, they deliver high-integrity products including avionics displays, video management systems, command and control technologies, and tailored mission systems for demanding operational environments.
As part of continued strategic growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to drive expansion across defence markets both in the UK and internationally.
The Role
This is a strategic position focused on identifying new opportunities, developing long-term relationships with key clients and partners, and delivering measurable revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be a commercially driven individual with a strong technical understanding of defence or aerospace electronics and an established network within the sector.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities within defence electronics.
· Develop and execute strategic growth plans to enter new markets and grow existing accounts.
Client & Partner Engagement
· Build and maintain trusted relationships with defence ministries, prime contractors, integrators, and OEMs.
· Represent the company at key industry events, client meetings, and defence exhibitions.
Strategic Planning & Intelligence
· Conduct ongoing market research, competitor analysis, and customer needs assessments.
· Work with engineering and production teams to align product offerings with client and market demands.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Report directly to senior leadership and work closely with internal stakeholders to shape commercial strategy.
· Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, market insights, and performance metrics.
Candidate Profile
· Proven success in business development or sales within the defence or aerospace electronics industry.
· Strong network and experience engaging directly with key stakeholders across the defence ecosystem.
· Deep understanding of defence procurement cycles, regulatory environments, and technology trends.
· Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
· Capable of translating complex technical capabilities into compelling value propositions.
· Must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
· Additional qualifications in defence acquisition, systems engineering, or project management are advantageous.
