Lead Nurse Workforce, Education & Professional Standards

Are you passionate about Nursing and influencing professional practice and development opportunities?

An opportunity has arisen due the retirement of the current post holder for a motivated, values driven and passionate Nurse to contribute fully to the professional, clinical, strategic, development of Nursing & Midwifery within Public Health Wales.


Main duties of the job

The role of the Lead Nurse for Workforce Education and Professional Standards will directly influence the professional agenda ensuring work programmes are developed appropriately in line with service need and with national and organisational strategies. Working across the clinical divisions and the organisation, they will assist in leading on the practice development, education and quality agenda and, using highly developed specialist knowledge. The post holder will work collaboratively with the office of the medical Director to lead to ensure all opportunities for multi-professional developments are maximised.

The post holder will provide leadership and act as a role model to nursing including advice on professional nursing issues at both local and national levels, providing direction guided by national regulatory frameworks. You will need to be comfortable with system working and have excellent communication and leadership skills.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Knowledge

* Current Registration with the NMC.
* Educated to Degree level.
* Masters in relevant health related subject or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of ongoing, relevant CPD.
* Leadership management course.
* Quality Improvement Qualification.
* Knowledge and understanding of national and UK wide nursing and midwifery issues and the implications.
* Experience in nurse/midwifery education/workforce planning.


Experience

* Clinically credible with experience of multidisciplinary working.
* Successful management of change and service modernisation.
* Post registration experience including clinical leadership, team management and with a reputation for professional innovation and excellence.
* Experience of planning/establishing, developing and managing clinical services and their associated workforce.
* Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders in the management of complex, sensitive and contentious situations.
* Experience and understanding workforce planning.


Skills and Attributes

* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
* Vision for best practice and positive management of change.
* Ability to think and plan strategically.
* Proven ability of practice development and innovation.
* An understanding of financial management and resource implications.
* Experience of Workforce planning.
* Able to work effectively and achieve deadlines, delegating appropriately.
* Able to analyse, synthesise and present knowledge and information to influence key decisions.
* Able to lead on, prioritise and manage service workload, balancing short term, unpredictable problems with demands and long-term objectives.
* Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Welsh Language Skills at level 1.
* Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of Public Health Wales workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable at levels 2 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.


Other

* Standard/DBS clearance including Adults and Children Barred List check.
* Ability to travel between sites across Wales in a timely manner to meet the needs of the service.
