General Manager – UK Operations

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Manager to lead a well-established UK manufacturing and processing business.
Our client is a well-established manufacturing and processing business supplying essential products and solutions to a diverse customer base across multiple sectors. With a strong focus on operational excellence, safety and customer satisfaction, the organisation is seeking an experienced commercial leader to drive continued growth and business performance.
The Role
You will lead both the commercial and operational functions of the UK business. Reporting to the European leadership team, you will oversee strategy development, financial performance, operational delivery, customer relationships, people leadership and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the UK business strategy aligned with wider group objectives.
* Lead business growth initiatives, market expansion plans and operational improvement programmes.
* Maintain awareness of market developments, commodity trends and competitive activity
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality and cost reduction.
* Lead capital investment planning and execution.
* Hold full P&L responsibility for the UK operation.
* Deliver revenue growth and profitability targets.
* Develop and manage budgets, forecasts and capital expenditure plans.
* Support commercial teams in securing long-term supply agreements and growth opportunities.
* Identify new markets, products and investment opportunities.
* Champion a culture of health, safety and environmental excellence.
* Ensure the business remains compliant with evolving legislation and industry standards.
* Lead, coach and develop a high-performing leadership team.
* Drive employee engagement, succession planning and talent development initiatives.
Essential Experience
* Previous experience as a General Manager, Site Director, Managing Director or Business Unit Leader.
* Significant leadership experience within a manufacturing or processing environment.
* Full P&L accountability.
* Strong commercial and operational management capability.
* Experience managing complex customer and supplier relationships.
* Demonstrated success leading business transformation and continuous improvement programmes.
* Excellent people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
