Your Contribution To Prysmian\'s Success
We’re on the lookout for a hands-on Installation Design Engineering Team Leader to take lead of our Power Grids Design Team in Eastleigh. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our HV business. You’ll be leading the team that undertake complex HV cable systems design. Our Power Grids Design team is the driving force behind some of the UK’s most challenging and innovative energy projects, from transmission systems to windfarm developments. As team leader you’ll not only guide the design of complex HV cable systems but also shape the success of projects that power communities and support the UK’s energy future.
You Will Be Responsible For
* Lead, coach and develop Team
* Schedule/coordinate team activities
* Collate and report agreed KPIs
* Maintain and update Engineer development plans
* Identify training and development requirements within the team
* Development of new innovative design solutions
* Optimisation of Design Workflows
* Supervision/Mentoring of Engineering Placement Student
As Design Engineer
* Lead Design Engineer on projects. Understanding Customer Requirements and relevant specifications/standards
* Defining Scope, risk assessment and mitigation
* Design Calculations (cable thrust, cable pulling tension etc.)
* Analysis of route survey data and cable route Planning
* Interpreting System Design requirements to develop installation layouts (trenches, terminations, joint bays etc)
* Developing design solutions for Special Engineering Difficulties (river, rail crossings etc)
* Production of 3D CAD models/drawings to define design requirements
* Compiling Project Engineering Design Packs for Site Teams
* On-going liaison with Site teams throughout project - Attending regular site meetings, developing excellent communication channels and maximising collaboration to monitor progress, improve designs and identify/resolve issues
You Are The Right Fit If You Have/are
* Significant experience of HV systems design and involvement in complex, large scale projects.
* Ideally hold a Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering)
* Proven background in similar environment or construction environment
* Strong track record in managing the design process from concept to delivery
* Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in developing and mentoring team members.
* Desirable experience working with fluid filled cables, however not essential
