Acute Oncology Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist & Oncology Educator

To jointly lead the oncology nursing team and take responsibility for the following:
* Provision of service and staff on a 24 hour basis
* Service based nursing and clerical staff
* Co-ordinates other members of the multidisciplinary team reporting to Department
* Professional and practice development of all team members and maximise available resources
* Delivery of patient care
* The implementation and adherence of Trust, National and professional policies
* The postholder must be fully competent and accredited in the safe administration of systemic anti‑cancer therapy (SACT)/chemotherapy.
* Responsible for delivering chemotherapy‑related education, including teaching, supervision and competency‑based assessment for staff undertaking training in SACT administration.
Main duties of the job
* Lead the nursing service with the organisation and control of all patient care and treatment maintaining high standards of care.
* As Education Lead, the postholder will design, deliver and evaluate education programmes for all levels of staff within the Acute Oncology Service and across the CSU.
* Providing structured teaching, supervision and assessment for staff undertaking chemotherapy/SACT training, ensuring that all practice is aligned with national standards

Experience
* Significant post‑registration experience, including experience of working in a relevant clinical specialty
* Experience of assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients/service‑users/staff demonstrating knowledge of specific needs
* Experience of participating in clinical audit
* Experience in policy development
* Experience of working in an MDT and across organisational and professional boundaries
* Experience of developing innovative practice
Skills
* Computer literate - ability to use Word/Excel/PowerPoint, etc.
* Clinical credibility
* Clinical skills specific to area of specialty Non‑Medical prescribing
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Organised approach to work with ability to prioritise and delegate
* Mentoring and advanced communication skills
* Excellent time management and organisation skills
* Proven skills in teaching individuals and small groups

Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of application of relevant National Guidance both general and specialty related e.g. National Service Frameworks, NICE etc.
* Knowledge and understanding of the NHS national targets and priorities
* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the defined caseload (patients/service‑users/staff)
* Recruitment and Selection, Appraisal and other relevant HR/People management training
* Knowledge of change management processes
Qualifications
* Appropriate NMC Registration(RN/RM/RN Child)
* Degree or equivalent qualification (e.g. diploma level specialist training) or experience
* Evidence of current CPD
* current accreditation in the safe administration of chemotherapy/SACT
* Supporting Learning in Practice (SLIP) or equivalent
