This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

To enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to facilitate and improve health and health care delivery. Therefore, the role of Informatics is to ensure an NHS organisation has the required systems, information and technology services needed to provide excellent clinical care to its patients, in conjunction with its partners throughout the wider health community.

The Information Governance Officer will support the Information governance team to deliver the Trust’s annual Information Governance work programme, incorporating Information Quality Assurance, Records Management, Data Protection and Confidentiality and Information Security.


Main duties of the job

Communicate with organisation staff in order to organise meetings, for example, meetings with internal and external agencies.

Effective communication skills in IT, telephone, written and verbal with the ability to process information to the relevant persons or services in a timely manner as appropriate.

Providing and receiving information from/to a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) which may be complex or sensitive in nature (e.g. internet breach of pornographic nature/ serious adverse incident in relation to Information Governance, or handling of subject access/police requests).

Utilise high levels of communication when liaising directly with external organisations i.e. Health Boards, Contractors, Police and Welsh Assembly Government to obtain or process requests for information and create working relationships. Act with tact and discretion when subject nature is sensitive or contentious.

Liaise with Line Manager and colleagues to inform of any issues that may arise as part of the role.

Communicate with organisations and individuals from outside of the Trust, ensuring confidentiality is maintained where necessary, and acting with tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive or contentious issues, often when the individual can be verbally aggressive.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
