Locally Employed Doctor ST3+ Level Paediatrics

We require a 6‑month Trust Doctor at ST3+ level, locally employed in Paediatrics (possibility of an extended period). The post will involve clinical sessions in General Paediatrics and Neonates, joint tertiary clinics, and participation in the ST3+ rota.
Main duties of the job
* Inpatient paediatrics: assessment and management of acute referrals from A&E and primary care; care of children already admitted to wards and support/supervision of first‑on‑call trainees.
* Neonatal unit: ongoing care and management of babies on the NNU, transitional care and post‑natal wards; support/supervision for first‑on trainees; attendance at high‑risk deliveries.
* Outpatient clinics: attendance in designated clinics (primarily at BVH) and occasionally outreach/community clinics; all clinics are supervised directly by a consultant.
* Safeguarding: assessment and management of children referred for safeguarding under direct supervision of an on‑call consultant; attendance at monthly peer‑review meetings.
* Administration: responsibility for e‑discharges, Badger summaries, safeguarding reports, and outpatient letters.
Person Specification
* Primary medical qualification.
* Full GMC registration.
* MRCP(H) Part I or Part II.
* At least 4 years full‑time postgraduate training (or equivalent flexible part‑time) – at least 2 years in a specialty training programme in paediatrics or neonatology.
* Evidence of completion to CMT level with appropriate practical procedures.
* Evidence of clinical presentation, understanding of audit and appreciation of its role, and participation in audit and research.
* Enthusiasm and commitment to the speciality.
£67,325 a year – Pro Rota plus relevant rota enhancements.
