Role Overview As an Electrical Engineer – Estates Maintenance, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems across multiple sites.
You will be responsible for maintaining electrical infrastructure, supporting operational performance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Maintenance Delivery
1. Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance across electrical systems
2. Diagnose faults and deliver effective technical solutions in a timely manner
3. Complete minor works and maintenance tasks to a high professional standard
4. Provide emergency response support and participate in an on-call rota
Compliance, Health & Safety
5. Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work
6. Supervise contractors, ensuring adherence to permits, RAMS, and site procedures
7. Act as a Safety Champion by proactively identifying and mitigating risks
8. Maintain compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
Systems & Asset Management
9. Support the safe coordination of planned shutdowns and maintenance activities
10. Maintain plant and equipment to maximise reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance
11. Keep accurate maintenance records within CAFM systems
12. Monitor and manage stock levels of electrical consumables and critical spares
Work Planning & Resource Management
13. Plan and prioritise workloads across multiple buildings
14. Raise purchase requests, obtain quotations, and manage documentation
15. Manage and close out work orders within CAFM systems in a timely manner
Technical Development & Continuous Improvement
16. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
17. Develop a broader understanding of M&E systems and building services
18. Review O&M manuals and recommend improvements to maintenance strategies (SFG20)
19. Work towards Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP) status
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
20. Work closely with internal teams, supervisors, and management
21. Liaise with contractors and suppliers on technical specifications and delivery
22. Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and a proactive maintenance culture
Essential Requirements Qualifications
23. City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
24. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
25. Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards
Experience & Knowledge
26. Proven experience within building services or facilities maintenance environments
27. Strong understanding of electrical systems, fault-finding, and maintenance practices
28. Experience working across multi-site or complex estates
29. Familiarity with CAFM systems, asset management tools, and mobile technology
Skills & Attributes
30. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
31. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
32. Good IT skills (e.g. MS Office, CAFM systems)
33. Proactive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach
34. Strong awareness of commercial and operational priorities within Facilities Management
Desirable
35. Additional Health & Safety certifications (e.g. First Aid, MEWP, PASMA)
36. Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
37. Membership of a professional engineering body
