Part-Time School Receptionist – Term-Time Only, Plus 5 days
We are seeking a Receptionist for our busy school office. The school office is often the first point of contact for staff and students seeking assistance. It is a dynamic environment, so the ideal candidate must be resilient and capable of handling varied questions and queries from staff, students, and visitors, both in person and via telephone and email.
The school office operates from 8.30am to 5.00pm to cover the start and end of the school day. The current vacancy involves working from 8.30am to 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We are looking for someone flexible and willing to occasionally cover additional hours to support colleagues. Our terms are approximately 34 weeks, with an additional week to attend inset days.
Key duties include:
1. Answering calls from internal and external contacts
2. Greeting visitors at reception
3. Coordinating fire evacuations
4. Processing post and courier deliveries
5. Managing student registration and records
6. Administering First Aid and liaising with the School Nurse
7. Providing administrative support to school stakeholders
8. Handling email communications and parent inquiries
9. Managing school lockers and lost property

Reporting structure: All staff are ultimately answerable to the Principal, with the line manager being the Director of Operations and Deputy Bursar. Support staff report to The Bursar.
Additional responsibilities for all school office staff include:
* Providing administrative support
* Creating a positive first impression for visitors, prospective students, and parents
* Managing post and courier deliveries
* Booking visitors and maintaining electronic visitor logs
* Ensuring registration accuracy and investigating discrepancies
* Acting as fire coordinator during drills or evacuations
* Liaising with the School Nurse and managing minor first aid incidents
* Updating and archiving student records
* Responding to inquiries via phone and website
* Booking taxis for students and staff
All staff are expected to:

* Ensure the smooth operation of the school and community wellbeing
* Comply with legal, safeguarding, and health and safety policies

Terms and Conditions:
The salary is based on the school's salary scale, commensurate with experience, and includes a contributory pension. Staff children are not eligible for free education at the school unless through the standard admissions process. All staff are expected to participate in extracurricular and boarding activities.
This position is subject to a probationary period and regular appraisals. Lunch is provided free during term time, and onsite parking is available.
