Overview
TLTP are looking for a full time long term SEN TA to work in an SEN school in Chelmsford, Essex.
About the school
This special school caters for children who have severe and/ or complex learning difficulties, PMLD, ASD, ADHD, Complex medical needs and severe learning difficulties.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum.
* Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils\' special needs.
* Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.
* Work closely with parents and guardians.
* Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events.
* Assist in severely disabled pupils\' personal care/medical needs.
* Administer and maintain records of pupils\' progress.
* Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings (e.g., Looked After Child reviews) regarding students with SEN, which may involve reviewing Education, Health and Care plans.
* Receive in-service training and apply behaviour management techniques.
Qualifications / Experience
* Experience working with ASD or complex needs.
* Ideally experience in PECS or MAKATON.
* Willing to provide personal care.
* Desire to work in a challenging environment and a passion for supporting children with complex disabilities.
* Excellent behaviour management skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff.
* Good knowledge/experience working with children with ASD/complex needs within a special needs environment.
* Experience working with primary aged pupils.
