Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team‑oriented administrator to join the specialist palliative care team at North Bristol NHS Trust for a year to cover maternity leave. The administrator is a key member of the palliative care team supporting the delivery of patient care and carer support.


Responsibilities

* Updating the team’s Careflow patient list in time for the 08:30 am board round, including identifying new patients when the purple butterfly is in use.
* Answering the telephone throughout the working day and responding appropriately as needed, ensuring messages are relayed to the correct member of staff.
* Assisting the specialist palliative care team in preparing for meetings: writing agendas, booking rooms, taking accurate and timely minutes and distributing them.
* Assisting the specialist palliative care team in preparing for teaching: booking rooms, printing and setting up rooms.
* Participating in palliative care clinical meetings and monthly team business, education audit and clinical governance meetings.
* Undertaking any other duties appropriate for the post as agreed with line managers.


Person Specification

* Understanding of the health and social care environment.
* Knowledge of NHS IT systems and willingness to learn.
* Computer literacy in systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
* Good understanding of patient confidentiality.
* Experience working in a multi‑professional environment.
* Experience supporting patients and carers.
* Experience in an administrative role.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Demonstration of caring and compassionate attributes.
* Keyboard skills: experience inputting data into information databases and willingness to undertake training.


Essential Criteria

* Previous administrator experience.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.


Desirable Criteria

* Understanding of the health and social care environment.
