Launch your career shaping resilient water systems
Purpose And Scope Of The Role
Tetra Tech is recruiting Graduate Process Engineers to join our Water Consultancy strategy teams from June 2026. You will support process design and optimisation for water, wastewater and sludge treatment schemes within AMP8/AMP9 programmes. Day‑to‑day you will prepare mass and energy balances, develop process simulations (for example BioWin), contribute to nature‑based solutions, support HAZOPs and commissioning, and produce technical reports informed by data analysis and GIS. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on projects that feed into multi‑site investment and delivery programmes.
Your Impact In This Position
You will quickly contribute to design outputs that inform intervention selection and delivery. Over 12–24 months you will take ownership of defined workstreams, develop modelling and commissioning skills, and influence low‑carbon and cost‑effective solutions.
Core Capabilities
* Process design & simulation – competent in mass/energy balances, process stage optimisation and using simulation packages to test and refine designs.
* Data analysis & modelling – able to handle large datasets, perform statistical analysis and support integrated catchment or network modelling using tools such as InfoWorks ICM.
* GIS & spatial workflows – practical use of MapInfo, QGIS or ArcGIS to generate inputs and visualisations for design and reporting.
* Technical assurance & commissioning – contribute to HAZOPs, commissioning activities and whole‑life cost assessments, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory standards.
* Communication & teamwork – clear written and verbal communication, collaborative working with engineers, modellers and clients, and the ability to present technical findings concisely.
Skills, Qualifications And Experience
Expected: degree in Chemical Engineering. Desirable: modules or experience in water/wastewater treatment, hydraulics, GIS or flood risk; familiarity with BioWin, InfoWorks ICM or related tools and membership or interest in professional development.
Work patterns & locations
Roles based in Warrington, Derby or Sheffield. Office attendance during probation, thereafter hybrid working with typical office presence 2–3 days per week and periodic site visits for data collection. Flexible arrangements considered. Applicants should be available for a June 2026 start.
