Role Overview
Markerstudy Group is seeking a Pricing Manager to join a rapidly growing pricing department covering various insurance lines. As a leading UK insurer, we insure around 5% of private cars, 20% of commercial vehicles, and over 30% of motorcycles, with total premiums of circa £1.2b. We work with household names like Co-op, Sainsbury’s, O2, Halifax, AA, Saga, and Lloyds Bank, and have a significant direct market presence. After acquiring Co-op Insurance Services in 2021 and BGLi in 2022, we are pursuing innovative pricing techniques using an award-winning insurer-hosted rating platform.
As a Pricing Manager, your responsibilities include:
1. Managing pricing for motor and home products.
2. Maintaining and enhancing behavioural models using data science techniques.
3. Advancing data science and statistical methods adoption.
4. Developing automated reporting structures for pricing performance monitoring.
5. Creating innovative solutions to improve rating accuracy and efficiency.
6. Collaborating with pricing, underwriting, and data science teams to improve products and pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
* Improve and maintain the pricing process to meet business needs.
* Develop behavioural models using traditional and data science techniques.
* Support the delivery of pricing and underwriting business plans for Motor & Home portfolios.
* Research and leverage new data sources; analyze trends with innovative features.
* Communicate results and recommendations clearly to decision-makers.
* Automate reporting, data pipelines, and quality assurance processes.
* Manage, coach, and mentor team members, fostering development and excellence.
* Collaborate with peers across departments.
Skills and Experience
* Experience managing general insurance products and/or pricing teams.
* Knowledge of current motor or home pricing trends and issues.
* Experience with predictive modeling techniques such as Logistic Regression, GBMs, Elastic Net GLMs, GAMs, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Neural Nets, and Clustering.
* Proficiency in statistical and data science programming languages (e.g., R, Python, PySpark, SAS, SQL).
* Quantitative degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science).
* Experience with WTWs Radar software is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
