We have an Assistant Quantity Surveyor position available within a regional, high-specification/luxury housebuilder. We are interested in hearing from Graduates, Assistants, Trainees, as well as slightly more experienced Surveyors seeking the next step in their career. The role is with a growing developer specializing in smaller, high-specification housing and refurbishments. You will work on new builds, listed building conversions, and refurbishments. We are looking for someone interested in working for a smaller, friendly, financially stable business that offers a good work-life balance, career progression, and skill development support. The hiring manager prefers a Surveyor with some onsite experience working for a developer or contractor, comfortable working on-site and engaging with clients and subcontractors when needed.
Joining this company will allow you to develop an extensive portfolio, working on diverse housing schemes. The successful candidate will handle complex, high-luxury residential developments.
Responsibilities:
* Support senior commercial staff with contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or client;
* Assist in risk management, value management, and cost control;
* Identify and develop responses to commercial risks;
* Assist with valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintain awareness of current building contracts;
* Understand health and safety regulations;
* Assist in preparing contracts, including material quantities;
* Value completed work and process payments;
* Conduct site visits, assessments, and projections for future work;
* Analyze outcomes and prepare progress reports.
Skills:
* Strong numeracy and financial management skills, with the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages;
* Ability to write clear, precise reports and communicate complex information simply;
* Negotiation, teamwork, and leadership skills on-site;
* Knowledge of current building and construction technology, processes, materials, and legal matters;
* Relevant industry qualifications (ONC/HNC/BSc or equivalent), including part-time students;
* Experience working on UK construction sites;
* Commercial and contractual awareness with a successful track record with reputable UK companies;
* Right to work in the UK;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
