Library and Learning Resources Assistant

Join to apply for the Library and Learning Resources Assistant role at The Bedford College Group.

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is £23,557 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE, pension membership, retail & leisure discounts and excellent professional and personal development opportunities.

Hours and Weeks: 37 hours per week – 38 weeks per year.

Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time.

This is a UK‑based contract. You must have the Right to Work in the UK. We cannot offer sponsorship; any offer of employment will be subject to evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.


About The Role

We are currently seeking a Library and Learning Resource Assistant to join our Libraries & Learning Resources department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Library and Learning Resource Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Student‑Focused Support – Provide frontline assistance to learners and staff, helping them access and use physical and digital resources while promoting independent study and academic success.
* Learning Skills Development – Deliver engaging one‑to‑one and group sessions to support research, literacy, and study skills, tailored to diverse learner needs.
* Library Operations & Environment – Manage day‑to‑day library functions, maintain a welcoming and inclusive space, and contribute to displays and promotional activities.
* Collaboration & Engagement – Work with curriculum teams and across campuses to ensure resource relevance, share best practice, and support wider college initiatives.
* Compliance & Professionalism – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and participate in training and development to continuously improve service quality.


About You

* Qualifications & IT Skills – Good general education including GCSEs (Grade A‑C) in Maths and English; confident with Windows applications, online research, and willing to develop new digital skills.
* Experience & Knowledge – Experience delivering group sessions or training, strong understanding of Equality & Diversity, and ability to manage learner behaviour effectively.
* Communication & Support – Excellent customer service and communication skills; patient, respectful, and committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
* Personal Attributes – Reliable, self‑motivated, organised, and calm under pressure; able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
* Flexibility & Commitment – Willing to work evenings/weekends when required, travel across sites, and uphold Bedford College Group’s values, safeguarding, and health & safety standards.
