Main duties of the job
You will provide a comprehensive front-line support service to all wards and departments within the Trust, carrying out a range of waste, linen, and recycling duties. In this key role, you will demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, remain flexible in your approach, and use your own initiative to effectively plan your workload and resolve any issues that may arise.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Communicate verbally with the portering waste supervisor and colleagues by phone and radio and through written procedures, ensuring an effective exchange of information regarding tasks and service needs
2. Undertake waste, recycling and linen duties in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures
3. Undertake waste, recycling and linen duties as required
4. Identify and act upon any potential risks or hazards within the working environment.
5. Pro-actively support the continued improvement of the service
6. Maintain and develop own competence for the role

Essential criteria
7. Basic level of education in literacy and numeracy
8. Full UK Driving License
Knowledge and Experience

9. Previous experience of working with the public

10. A basic understanding of the role of a recycling/waste operative in a healthcare setting
11. Awareness of waste streams
12. Proficient in using a PC, software, and systems
