Band 6 Deputy Sister, Ward Victoria, Winchester
37.5 hours per week
A secondment opportunity has arisen on Victoria Ward to cover maternity leave for a period of around 1 year.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and energetic nurse who has the vision and passion to work within a strong nursing team to provide the best possible care for our patients.
We are looking for a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse who strives to offer excellent clinical leadership to develop a nursing team whilst delivering excellent patient-centred care and leading by example. You will be well supported & developed within your role through mentorship, clinical supervision, and leadership courses. You will have a minimum of 2 year’s experience as a Band 5 staff nurse, have excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and develop.
Victoria ward in RHCH is a 27 bedded acute medical ward specialising in gastroenterology and endocrinology. We offer high quality care delivery to those with a range of conditions in a supportive, friendly and caring environment. Our patients are admitted with a wide variety of illnesses including inflammatory bowel diseases, unstable diabetes, chronic and acute liver disease, disorders related to alcohol, gastrointestinal bleeding, cancers of the GI tract, and other general medical conditions. We also care for patients with nasogastric tubes, PEG & PEJ feeding tubes, and patients requiring TPN. We are also in the early stages of developing 2 ‘Higher Care’ beds for our patients who need more intensive treatment, such as acute GI bleeding or sepsis.
We are a dynamic learning environment, and encourage and support all bands of staff to develop their clinical skills. We also look after students at all stages of their training and receive excellent positive feedback from our student nurses.
We work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in a challenging and rewarding environment, and you will be well supported by the senior nursing team led by our Clinical Matron.
