Lead Ophthalmology Scrub Practitioner

We are recruiting a Lead Ophthalmology Scrub Practitioner to support our Ophthalmology Service. The candidate must have skills for various Ophthalmology procedures and clinical leadership experience. Experience in Orthopaedics is preferred or a willingness to learn.

Job Responsibilities
Job Purpose
Assist the Theatre Manager in delivering patient care standards in the Theatre, providing scrub expertise and leadership in Ophthalmology, and ensuring effective resource use.
Objectives
* Manage Theatre activities for efficient service and high clinical care standards.
* Provide clinical expertise and support to enhance service.
* Lead the theatre team and assist surgeons.
* Prepare the theatre daily and maintain equipment.
* Liaise with departments for smooth operations.
* Support clinical governance and assist in budgeting.
* Work in a multi-disciplinary team for quality patient care.
* Maintain communication with patients and staff.
* Deliver high-quality individualized patient care.
* Monitor best practices and maintain records per governance policies.
* Conduct safety checks per WHO guidelines.
Management
* Organise staffing levels and maintain documentation.
* Coordinate stock levels and ensure compliance with policies.
* Maintain high infection control standards.
Education
* Supervise staff and ensure training competency.
* Mentor and educate staff and students.
Qualifications
* Registered with NMC or HCPC.
* Strong clinical skills and supervisory experience.
* Effective communication and planning skills.
* Immediate Life Support certification.
* Diploma/Degree in a health-related subject.
