2D CAD Technician
Location: Milton Keynes
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
Experience Required: 5+ years in Structural or Civil Engineering
A leading design and engineering organisation is looking for an experienced CAD Technician to join their team onsite. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical drawing experience who enjoys working on varied, bespoke structural projects.
About the Role
You'll play a key role in producing detailed construction and fabrication drawings, supporting the delivery of staging, seating, grandstands, and other temporary or bespoke structures. Working closely with design leads, project managers, and client technical teams, you will help ensure that all structures are accurately detailed, compliant, and ready for fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
Produce high‑quality 2D construction and fabrication drawings
Create accurate bills of materials
Select appropriate materials based on structural specifications
Collaborate with internal teams and external client engineers
Develop and refine design concepts using CAD software
Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and safety regulations
Maintain strong attention to Health & Safety requirements across all workEssential Skills & Experience
5+ years' experience in a structural or civil engineering setting
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical standards, and design specifications
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
Strong communication and collaboration skillsDesirable
Experience with AutoCAD 3D, Revit, or SketchUp
Background in temporary structures, fabrication, or bespoke engineered solutions
