Overview
This is an Expression of Interest to join Stantec's thriving Fire team as a Fire Engineer. The Fire Engineering team is one of the UK’s largest, operating within a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy. It is growing with an established project portfolio including high-profile regional, national and international clients.
You will work with colleagues across disciplines and will have responsibilities on existing projects within a portfolio including Residential, Commercial, Education, and specialist sectors such as Aviation, Battery Storage, Data Centres, Healthcare, High-Hazard and Nuclear.
The team is a close-knit group that values ideas from all members and operates across six regional teams in the UK and international markets, with over 100 staff in the Fire Safety Division.
Responsibilities
* Delivery of fire engineering design and analysis on multiple projects
* Advisement on applicable codes, standards and guidance
* Fire strategy development and regulatory code compliance advisement
* Means of escape design and analysis; evacuation analysis and pedestrian flow modelling
* Structural fire protection design and analysis; structural optimization
* Fire impact, external fire spread, and smoke control analyses
* Computational Fluid Dynamic analyses
* Design and specification of fire protection systems
* Construction phase consultation and third-party peer review
* Post Occupancy Evaluation and site inspections during construction
* Project management responsibilities for delivering fire engineering, supporting the Director of Fire Engineering, and managing a team up to ten people
Qualifications
* Qualified with a relevant BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in Fire Engineering or equivalent
* Experience in a fire engineering consultancy delivering fire strategy and fire safety services
* Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations and fire safety standards
* Passion and talent for fire engineering
