Social Worker – Adolescent Safeguarding Team

Dudley Children’s Social Care has implemented the Hertfordshire Family Safeguarding Model across social work teams. It is a strengths‑based, whole‑family approach to supporting children and their families, bringing together and co‑locating with multi‑disciplinary partners, working intensively with families to reduce the risks of children coming into care or becoming subject to child protection planning.
Responsibilities
* Work with children and young people from the age of 13 upwards as part of six social work teams and one Child Exploitation Team.
* Co‑produce care plans that meet the needs of children at risk of child criminal and/or sexual exploitation.
* Support children who go missing from home and work closely with the Youth Justice Service, Housing, and local partners.
* Use Motivational Interviewing skills and a restorative practice approach to bring about positive change in children and families.
* Provide high‑quality, robust, and holistic support, aiming to keep children within family networks where possible.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 12 months post‑qualifying experience.
* Knowledge of Extra‑Familial Harm and a strong determination to keep young people in their family networks.
* Experience with child protection planning, child protection safeguarding, and restorative practice preferred.
* Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment with partners such as Barnardo’s, Phase Trust, Citizens Advice, and CAMHS.
* Willingness to attend training and development opportunities offered by the Centre for Professional Practice Service.
