Offer description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced radiographer who is interested in providing structured support for radiographers who are new to radiography or who may not have worked after qualification within the NHS.

The candidate's key role will be to ensure the best possible start for newly qualified or trainee radiographers; providing backing and guidance during their transition from basic radiographer or new recruit to confident, capable autonomous professionals who are able to work safely and efficiently in the department.

Key responsibilities

* Develop and maintain a progressive, professional learning environment within the Diagnostic Imaging department.
* Monitor and coordinate the progress of staff who are new to the service.
* Identify, develop, and assist with the assessment of core competencies for radiographers whilst promoting inter‑professional learning activities within the Diagnostic Imaging department and across the Trust.
* Support and train others in a clinical setting, maintain robust record keeping, and identify learning needs.
* Promote Radiology safety principles in the clinical area.

We are keen to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated radiographer who is passionate about ensuring junior radiographers are empowered to deliver a safe, first‑class experience to our patients.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for promoting the Radiation safety principles in the clinical area. The applicant must be confident in working in a multi‑disciplinary setting.

Our Trust provides both emergency and planned healthcare across East Surrey, North‑East West Sussex, and South Croydon – covering towns like Crawley, Horsham, Reigate, and Redhill. Our main hospital, East Surrey in Redhill, offers a full range of acute and specialist services and is also the closest trauma unit to Gatwick Airport. We also provide outpatient, diagnostic, and planned care services at sites including The Earlswood Centre, Caterham Dene Hospital, Oxted Health Centre, Crawley Hospital, and Horsham Hospital.

We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we work hard to create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported. At our Trust, we strive to be the best place to work and receive care. We are dedicated to supporting you in your current role while helping you grow and develop your career. As part of our team, you will have access to excellent training opportunities, flexible working, dedicated support networks, and a strong emphasis on health and wellbeing to ensure a thriving and positive work environment.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates a 24‑hour service, 365 days a year. As such, all nursing, clinical, and operational roles may involve working on a 24/7 shift basis, unless otherwise specified during the recruitment process. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive workforce and actively encourage applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, race and ethnicity, religion or belief and sexual orientation. Successful candidates will be appointed to the first pay step within the band when they start with the Trust (unless they have previous relevant NHS continuous service), thereafter individuals will progress up the pay steps in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions. For part time roles you will receive a pro rata (proportional) salary payment based on the appropriate pay step/point and hours worked in accordance with AfC and all medical and dental terms and conditions.

Note: Some vacancies may receive a high volume of applications. In such cases, the vacancy may close earlier than the advertised closing date. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
