Investment process, with the following core responsibilities: Build and iterate quantitative economic tools and models, which will help to provide a systematic and data-driven macroeconomic framework to the Company’s investment process across asset classes. Interpret and present findings to the trading team, highlighting where key data or variables are changing, and engage in team discussion critiquing the model results. Regularly interact with external economists, strategists and analysts (e.g., sell-side research, consultants) to supplement and challenge the internal research process and augment analysis. Conduct other ad hoc macroeconomic and financial market analysis as directed by the team. Qualification and key requirements: 0-5 years of experience working as an economist at the buy or sell-side. Master’s level qualification in economics and/or econometrics, preferably with a focus on macroeconomics. Strong experience in programming, preferably Python, and building quantitative economic models. Strong analytical skills, experience working with large datasets, and an understanding of statistical techniques used to analyse time-series and cross-sectional data. Ability to be flexible and open-minded in response to new data, ideas, and technology. Ability to work independently or as part of a team as necessary. Ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly. Desirable requirements: Experience working with alternative data sources, e.g., social media sentiment, web scraping, satellite imagery etc.
