Job Description:
NRL is working with a leading and growing manufacturing business specializing in the Electrical sector.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Team Lead who will work under the direction of the Engineering Manager. This role involves overseeing various engineering projects, managing teams, delivering project solutions, and ensuring technical specifications are met efficiently.
The role requires close collaboration with estimators, engineering production teams, manufacturing, and site-based installation teams to ensure smooth project execution. Expertise in CAD design, control systems, and project management is essential.
Key Requirements
* HND in an electrical discipline is essential; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required.
* Proven experience (5+ years) in electrical engineering, switchgear, and electrical control system design.
* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, SEE Electrical, or similar).
* Understanding of BS7671 wiring regulations, BS EN 61439, and IEC standards.
* Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layouts.
* Leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor engineers.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
* Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electrical engineering.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
* Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality solutions. Experience with MCC wiring and PLC programming is a plus but not essential.
* Right to work in the UK.
Primary Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the electrical engineering team in designing, developing, and delivering electrical systems.
* Oversee design and manufacture of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Collaborate with estimators for project cost estimates and schedules.
* Develop and review CAD designs and schematics for electrical LV switchgear.
* Coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams to translate designs into final products.
* Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for successful delivery.
* Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
* Ensure quality assurance and control standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
* Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation.
* Communicate with clients and stakeholders to meet or exceed expectations.
* Drive continuous improvement within the team and processes.
* Oversee electrical switchgear projects from design to installation and commissioning.
* Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams for smooth project execution, including FAT & SAT tests.
* Provide technical support to sales and manufacturing teams.
* Prepare technical submissions and manuals.
* Report regularly to the Engineering Manager on project progress and issues.
