Is learning more about patient safety in your personal development plan? Perhaps you are thinking about your next potential career move? Or are you simply seeking a new experience?

If the answer is yes to any or all these questions, then this may be the opportunity for you. An exciting opportunity is available for the right candidate to join our Patient Safety Team on a short secondment from 1 September 2025 to 28 February 2026.

Main duties of the job

As a Patient Safety Officer, you will gain insight to the safety learning culture of the organisation and participate in the design of safer systems and quality improvement projects relating to safety. You will experience and support the work of the Patient Safety Incident Review team, working closely with Patient Safety Investigators and Engagement Leads.

Our ambition is to be the best ambulance service in the UK, delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place, every time. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team.

The ability to travel across the Northwest will be required as part of this post.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of society regardless of disability, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief.

Working for our organisation

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
