Newbury Manor School, a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 with autism spectrum disorders, seeks a Level 3 Forest School Lead to join our Education team.
Role Overview
The Forest School Lead will design, plan, and deliver outdoor learning sessions that develop gardening, camping, sustainability and life‑skills for our SEN/ASD students. The role supports the wider curriculum, promotes inclusivity, and contributes to the school’s culture of independence and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote the school’s vision, aims and ethos.
* Plan, deliver and assess day‑to‑day forest school sessions with support from the Assistant Head Teacher (PD Lead).
* Engage with the wider community and collaborate across departments for whole‑school events.
* Advocate a culture of inclusion, valuing diversity and supporting all views.
* Safeguard children and young people, complying with the safeguarding policy and all other school policies.
* Maintain accurate records for external qualifications, assessments and planning cycles.
* Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met and displayed.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Level 3 Forest School qualification.
* Creative, fun, and adaptable educator with a passion for outdoor learning.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of statutory and regulatory guidelines related to outdoor learning.
* Experience in building positive relationships, inspiring students, and supporting behaviour as communication.
* Ability to plan age‑appropriate outdoor activities, including games, crafts and enrichment (e.g., gardening awards).
* Commitment to safeguarding: willing to undergo safeguarding screening, DBS checks and provide references covering the last three years.
