Role Purpose
To provide financial management support to the Finance Manager, strengthening financial control, reporting, and forecasting as the Charity grows its income, fundraising activity, and operational scale.
The role can be performed on a hybrid basis, either from home or on site - as duties require.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management (core – c.70%)
* Prepare and maintain monthly management accounts
* Support cashflow forecasting and budget monitoring
* Reconcile income across fundraising streams (events, donations, grants)
* Manage restricted and unrestricted fund tracking
* Support year-end accounts preparation and audit processes
* Maintain financial controls and compliance processes
* Support payroll preparation and financial approvals (not processing-only)
Systems and Reporting
* Own and maintain finance systems (e.g. Xero, Dext)
* Produce finance reports for SMT and Trustees
* Ensure accurate financial data for fundraising and impact reporting
Operations Support (secondary – c.30%)
* Maintain key operational records linked to finance and compliance
* Support contract and supplier financial management
* Liaise with Fundraising and Programme teams on financial planning
* Support policy compliance (financial controls, procurement, reserves)
Person Specification
Essential
* Proven experience in a finance-focused role
* Experience preparing management accounts or financial reports
* Strong financial systems capability
* High numeracy and financial literacy
* Confidence working with senior leaders and Trustees
Desirable
* Charity finance experience
* Experience supporting fundraising income reporting
* Experience using Xero software
* Part-qualified or qualified by experience (AAT / similar)
