About the Role
We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Oldbury on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting children with complex additional needs and making a genuine difference in their daily lives.
This specialist setting supports children and young people with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties, as well as pupils with additional medical needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and feel supported throughout the school day.
This role will initially begin on a trial basis, with the view to becoming a long-term position if the Teaching Assistant is a suitable fit for the school and students.
The school provides a nurturing and highly supportive environment where every Teaching Assistant works closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of care and education.
Due to the needs of the pupils, the Teaching Assistant must be comfortable providing personal care, including toileting, and supporting students within a 1:1 or 2:1 support model where required.

Key Responsibilities
9. Providing 1:1 support and assisting small groups of pupils as a Teaching Assistant
10. Supporting students with complex learning needs and physical disabilities
11. Assisting the class teacher with learning activities and classroom organisation
12. Delivering personal care where required, including toileting
13. Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
14. Encouraging independence, communication, and engagement in learning
15. Supporting pupils with mobility and access to learning
16. Creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
17. Promoting pupil wellbeing throughout the school day
Requirements
18. Experience supporting children or young people with severe and complex SEN within the UK
19. Experience working with PMLD, SLD, or complex medical needs is highly desirable
20. Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational or care role
21. Ability to support and manage behaviours that may challenge
22. Previous experience in a UK school or care environment
23. NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
24. Willingness to provide personal care where required
25. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
26. Strong communication and teamwork skills
27. Ability to adapt to individual student needs
28. Commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children
