Your expertise and dedication will be pivotal in driving forward this vision and ensuring the delivery of exceptional services across all areas of care.
As the IJB Chief Officer and Director of Health and Social Care, you will be responsible for providing high-level strategic leadership to address the complex opportunities and challenges faced across health and social care. This includes tackling growing demand, improving recruitment and workforce retention, and driving the implementation of innovative practices and advancements in technology.
You will manage an annual budget of approximately £248M, with overarching responsibility for strategic planning, commissioning, and ensuring the effective delivery of services in alignment with the Integration Joint Board Strategic Plan 2021-31. Your role will involve working closely with stakeholders to promote the integration of health and social care services, ensuring they are responsive, sustainable, and future-focused.
This position requires an exceptional, politically astute leader with a proven track record of sustained success at a senior level. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in driving meaningful change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and establishing high-performing teams. Your ability to navigate complex political landscapes while delivering tangible results and achieving organisational goals will be crucial to the success of this role.

Assessment Centre for this post is scheduled for 6 October 2025 followed by interviews on 7 October 2025.
The work style for this post is Hybrid Worker.
Hybrid Workers
The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly between home and the office and the frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.
This is a full-time, permanent position. Reflecting the joint nature of this appointment, the successful candidate will have the option of being appointed on the terms and conditions of either NHS Ayrshire and Arran or South Ayrshire Council, including salary.
For South Ayrshire Council terms and conditions - the Grade of this post is Chief Officer 50 and the annual salary is £143,702.
For NHS terms and conditions - the Grade of this post is ESM F and the annual salary is from £106,955 to £141,596 based on a 37.5 hour working week.
