Job Description: Adult Consultant Psychiatrist

Annual Salary: £125,000 - £160,000
Job Responsibilities
* Provide consultant psychiatrist input to inpatients in specialized rehabilitation services or acute psychiatric wards.
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver care for patients with complex needs.
* Conduct psychiatric assessments and formulate treatment plans, ensuring adherence to the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and trainees, promoting best practices in psychiatric care.
* Engage in regular appraisals and continuous professional development to maintain GMC registration.
* Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in general adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of learning disabilities (LD), or medical psychotherapy is preferred.
* Section 12 (2) approval and Approved Clinician (AC) status.
* Recognized medical degree (e.g., MBBS, MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution.
Desired Experience
* A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the NHS or private healthcare settings.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team providing care for patients with complex mental health needs.
* Experience in providing leadership in clinical situations and mentorship to less experienced staff.
Additional Guidelines
* Core Psychiatry Training (CT1–CT3): 3 years full-time training covering general adult psychiatry and subspecialties.
* Higher Specialist Training (ST4–ST6): 3 years in a chosen psychiatry subspecialty, leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
* Located ideally near the hospital site, but a relocation package is available for suitable candidates from elsewhere in the UK or Ireland.
Work Mode
* Hours: 36–42 hours per week (varies by role).
* Travel: Primarily onsite with no significant travel required.
