About The Role
We are seeking an experienced senior business analyst to join our team and engage in a diverse range of client projects within the defence, national security, and commercial sectors.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for investigating customer software needs and problems, identifying opportunities, and contributing to the recommendation of improvements in the solutions BMT offer. You will lead the customer in defining acceptance tests for these recommendations, often acting as a proxy product owner to help steer the vision of the solution.
The role will require excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to build the trust and support necessary for successful outcomes with customers, as well as lead the direction of the solution gaining consensus with the agile software delivery teams.
About You
Senior Business Analyst in the digital team requires close collaboration with our customers, software developers, test specialists and many other disciplines.
* Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities;
* Challenges the customer towards the best solution for the time, cost and quality;
* Follows agreed standards, applying appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailed requirements;
* Provides constructive challenge to stakeholders as required. Prioritises requirements and documents traceability to source;
* Reviews requirements for errors and omissions. Investigates, manages and applies authorised requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy suitable for either Waterfall or Agile software development approaches;
* Able to investigate operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business and software solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes;
* Able to drive the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identify options for consideration;
* Able to work with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests;
* Able to identify the business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects; selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches;
Requirements Definition and Management
* Able to contribute to the selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches;
* Able to define and manage scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity;
* Able to facilitate input from stakeholders, provide constructive challenge and enable effective prioritisation of requirements;
* Able to review requirements for errors and omissions;
* Able to establish the requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source;
* Able to investigate, manage, and apply authorised requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy.
