Position: Payroll, Pensions and Workforce Data Adviser

Location: St Brendan’s Sixth Form College / Up to 1 day a week hybrid

Salary: £32,199 - £35,395 per annum, pro rata plus £2,000 Market Suppliment

St Brendan’s Sixth Form College is successful and growing fast, so come and join our friendly and collaborative HR and Finance teams as our new Payroll and Pensions Adviser. You’ll be welcomed by an institution that prides itself on fostering excellence, innovation, and inclusion.

About the Role

This is an exciting new opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our payroll, pensions, and workforce data runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll provide accurate and timely payroll support, liaise with external partners, and contribute to data reporting that supports strategic decision-making.

This position is offered at three days per week, all year around, or with the flexibility to work loosely on a term time only plus two weeks basis (aligned with business needs), offering a great work-life balance and the chance to contribute meaningfully to a growing and dynamic college environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver accurate, timely payroll and pensions processing in partnership with outsourced providers (currently Cintra).
Maintain accurate workforce data and produce regular analytical reports for senior leaders.
Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, pension regulations, and audit requirements.
Actively support identifying and implementing system improvements like the rollout of self-service HR and payroll tools.
Provide supportive guidance to staff on payroll, pension, and contractual matters like family friendly leave.

About You

You’ll have proven experience in payroll and pensions administration, excellent attention to detail, and strong IT skills, particularly with Excel and management information systems.

Experience of working with Cintra or similar payroll systems, and knowledge of the education sector, Local Government and Teachers’ Pension Schemes, would be advantageous.

In terms of personal attributes, we’re looking for a colleague who is friendly, collaborative, and confident being hands-on in an often fast-paced environment. Most of all we are looking for someone who is approachable – with a positive attitude and a willingness to step in to help colleagues.

Not sure you meet all the requirements? Let us decide! Research shows that women and members of other underrepresented groups tend not to apply for jobs if they think they may not meet every qualification, when in fact they often do. At St Brendan’s we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply.

We ensure that all hiring decisions are made without regard to age, race, national origin, sex, disability, gender, gender identity, religion, or any other protected characteristics, and treat all applications with the strictest confidence. We’re always open to hearing how we can support flexible working in different ways, including part-time work. Please don’t be afraid to ask about what we can do to support your needs. All requests will be carefully and fairly considered and we wish you every success in your application.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and would expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.

Our job adverts may close as soon as sufficient applications have been received. Considering this, if you are interested in this role, please do apply as soon as you can.
