We are looking to appoint 3 Assessment Officers in the Council Tax Team within the Income & Debt department. There are 2 permanent positions and 1 fixed-term contract for a year (maternity leave cover).

The successful candidates will work as part of a team, responsible for administering Council Tax accounts in accordance with current legislation. They will ensure all necessary actions are taken to collect revenue efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities include processing applications for reliefs and exemptions, responding to enquiries via letter, telephone, and electronic communication, and undertaking proactive work to improve collection.
If you have experience in debt collection and enjoy working with the public, this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, high-performance team focused on meeting challenging financial and operational targets.
You should be an enthusiastic, committed team player with knowledge of best practices and customer contact procedures, experience in debt collection, and a good standard of numeracy and literacy. The role requires the ability to work independently, prioritize conflicting deadlines, manage your time efficiently, and possess good communication skills.
