Project Officer (Environmental Education)

Location: Iver Environment Centre (IEC), Slough Road, Iver Heath SL0 0EB, the Elsdale II floating Classroom currently moored at Greenford Quay UB6 0FP and Denham Country Park, Denham Court Drive, Denham, Uxbridge, UB9 5PG
Contract: Permanent (annualised or zero hours also available)
Salary: Circa £24,785 per annum
Hours: 22.5 – 37.5 hours a week, including regular weekend work
Overview
Groundwork South invites you to join our team at Iver Environment Centre—a 2.5‑acre rural site between Slough and Uxbridge. We connect people to nature through school visits, family fun days, drop‑off holidays and community group activities.
Key responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging educational activities for primary‑age children (4‑11 years) and families.
* Support visiting school trips and deliver ecology and bushcraft‑based programmes across Hillingdon, Ealing and Buckinghamshire.
* Develop and promote drop‑off activity days for children aged 7‑11 and 11‑16, and workshops such as pond dipping, minibeast hunting, den building, fire lighting and crafts.
* Collaborate with the existing team to promote and grow our programmes.
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to programme improvement.
Qualifications
* Previous experience of working with children in any setting (school, community, etc.).
* Strong communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
* Passion for the natural world and ability to enthuse others.
* Willingness to undertake accredited first‑aid and food‑hygiene training.
