Role: Pre-Construction Utility Consultant
Location: Remote
Role Overview
Our client is a specialist multi-utility consultancy supporting UK developers with end-to-end utility services, from feasibility to commissioning of electricity, water, telecoms, and heat networks. They excel in de-risking complex urban developments, combining technical expertise with commercial insight to ensure efficient, compliant, and profitable project delivery.
Client Engagement & Proposal Development
* Collaborate with senior colleagues to meet developers and landowners, understand their needs, and develop tailored proposals.
Technical and Commercial Advisory
* Coordinate with utility companies, energy providers, and telecom operators to identify opportunities and risks.
* Present findings through professional reports and sketches.
Design & Coordination
* Coordinate utility designs with CAD and design teams.
* Prepare tender briefs and strategies for estimating teams.
* Manage tender processes ensuring client and company standards are met.
Procurement & Contractor Management
* Develop scopes and specifications for procuring contractors and utility providers.
* Manage procurement for enabling works and final connections.
Project Delivery
* Oversee enabling and connection works, collaborating with project teams.
* Lead progress meetings, provide updates, and manage contractor instructions.
* Review documentation, reconcile costs, and manage project closeout.
* Monitor project success and seek service improvements.
* Contribute to winning work and delivering excellent customer service.
Accountability
* Own delivery of all pre-construction stages with support from technical and commercial resources.
What We’re Looking For
Demonstrate:
* Industry Experience: Proven utility connection and infrastructure project delivery in the UK.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electricity, gas, water, and telecom network requirements.
* Sector Expertise: Experience with multi-utility providers, iDNOs, DNOs, GTs, water, and telecom networks.
* Project Background: Involvement in large, multidisciplinary schemes.
* Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
* Client Relationship Skills: Ability to develop and sustain strong client relationships.
* Commercial Awareness: Solid understanding of utilities industry economics.
* Communication & Networking: Ability to clearly convey technical info and network effectively.
