RecruitME is supporting the appointment of a Plant Manager for a complex resource recovery and renewable energy site in Lanarkshire .
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for a site that combines an MRF and an Energy from Waste / CHP operation, using gasification technology to generate renewable electricity in a 24/7 environment.
We are keen to speak with experienced Plant Managers, Operations Managers or senior site leaders from EfW, CHP, power generation, biomass, process plant, waste, utilities or heavy industrial operations .
The role Reporting to the Operations Director, the Plant Manager will lead all site employees and take ownership of operational performance, EH&S leadership, environmental compliance, maintenance interface, budget control and continuous improvement across the facility.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of both the EfW plant and the MRF, ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently and in line with KPI, regulatory and business expectations.
Key responsibilities Lead the full day-to-day operation of the site, including both the EfW plant and MRF
Drive plant performance, reliability, output and availability
Build and maintain a proactive EH&S culture
Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and environmental permit requirements
Manage site KPIs, reporting and operational performance improvements
Take ownership of site budgets, forecasting and cost control
Support the maintenance function, annual outage planning and shutdown activity
Co-ordinate response to unplanned outages and plant issues
Ensure the MRF supports consistent fuel supply into the EfW process
Lead, develop and manage site teams through clear performance leadership
Manage site relationships with contractors, regulators, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Identify and deliver opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and cost performance
What we are looking for Extensive senior operational leadership experience in a relevant plant environment
Background in EfW, CHP, waste, power generation, gasification, biomass, process plant, utilities or similar
Strong understanding of health & safety, environmental compliance and permit-driven operations
Experience leading teams, managing KPIs and improving plant performance
Commercial awareness with experience of budgets and operational accountability
Engineering qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable Gasification experience
Knowledge of steam boilers, steam turbines and auxiliary systems
NEBOSH, IOSH, IEMA or similar
High Voltage Authorised Person experience
BOAS or similar
