About the Role
At Scottish Water, we support a flourishing Scotland by looking after Scotland’s most precious natural resource, ensuring a world‑class water supply and caring for the environment every minute of every day. We are recruiting a Roads Technical Advisor in Inverness to join the Specialist Service Delivery, CI Roads Team (formerly the NRSWA Team) and support our Capital Programme across the Northwest Area of Scotland. You will work within a large team under the guidance of the CI Roads Specialist Team Manager, guiding, advising, auditing and safeguarding Scottish Water’s reputation on all road‑related activities.
Responsibilities
* Enable the Capital Programme to progress through strong stakeholder management and provide expert, timely advice ensuring project teams gain access to the road network across the Northwest of Scotland within required timeframes and standards.
* Identify and evaluate risks and issues early in the project lifecycle, offering expert advice for mitigation and de‑risking projects.
* Coordinate with Road Authorities and other utilities during planning, construction and reinstatement stages to meet procedural and statutory obligations.
* Develop and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Monitor and analyse the Scottish Road Works Register for Road Authority inspections, managing them accordingly.
* Balance tasks and manage work schedules according to importance, time, logistics and statutory obligation.
* Work across the North West Highlands (Wick to Fort William, Inner Hebrides) and travel to remote locations as business needs dictate.
Qualifications & Experience
* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, dynamic mindset for problem‑solving, and excellent communication and reporting abilities.
* Experience with Civil Engineering Construction and a working knowledge of Utility Road Works (Civil Engineering qualifications are an asset).
* Full clean UK driving licence.
* Preferred: Lean training (white/yellow belt or equivalent) and skills in MS Word and Excel; Power BI is a bonus.
Location & Working Pattern
Based in Inverness (but also open to candidates in Perth). Monday to Friday working pattern.

Compensation
This role is a Grade 5. Starting salary of £32,650 with performance‑driven pay progression up to £38,610.
