The Role
As Senior Draftsperson this is a great opportunity to be involved with solving complex problems relating to technical drawings for weapon handling launch systems for UK submarines.
Day-to-day, you’ll be working within a supportive team environment, where you will use your skills and enthusiasm to develop, integrate and test mission critical systems, at the cutting edge of their domain. You will be deployed direct to the role and will use your on-the-job experiences and training to make a real difference for our customers.
1. Meeting the needs of our customers actively seeking out new knowledge, tools, and technologies to help take us forward into the future.
2. Checking for most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions.
3. Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home. However, you may be eligible to work remotely if you are able to use CAD hardware at home. But you may be required to work onsite as and when the project demands.
Essential Experience of the Senior Draftsperson
4. Have experience of origination and desirably checking for most mechanical engineering deliverables, i.e. technical documentation, 3D CAD and technical drawings, operating instructions, etc
5. Experience of Concept setting out, including material selection, and scoping calculations.
6. Full lifecycle engineering experience / awareness and the capability to define test instructions
7. Understanding of the non-conformance and change request processes.
8. Competent to perform and report root cause analysis and fault finding, along with detailing and proving solutions.
9. Proficient with use of PLM and CAD packages (TeamCenter and NX experience would be advantageous).
Qualifications for the Senior Draftsperson
10. Mechanical Engineering Degree, or HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline with demonstrable experience and capability of working in a Senior role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. The successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance once in post.
