Job Description:
We are seeking a Power Electronics Process Quality Engineer with 3 to 8 years of experience in in-process and line quality, particularly in battery manufacturing and testing. This is a long-term B2B contract position based in Wolverhampton.
Responsibilities include:
1. Understanding BMS functionalities, including cell voltage monitoring/balancing, current measurement, temperature control, and communication protocols such as CAN bus.
2. Verifying documents like DFMEA, PFD, PFMEA, Control plans, check sheets, SOPs, and SPC studies, including test plans and reports.
3. Gaining working knowledge of Battery Assembly Process and its integration.
4. Conducting in-process audits of BEM assembly and BMS testing, ensuring readiness for next assembly stages.
5. Preparing and analyzing Line process Quality Audit reports and implementing corrective actions for defects.
6. Managing defect escalation from BEM to Pack level, ensuring quality standards are met.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Extensive experience in quality testing of Battery Modules and Battery Packs.
2. Knowledge of battery manufacturing processes such as laser welding, tightening, traceability, and electrical testing at BEM and pack levels.
3. Familiarity with validation and testing processes, including BMS and battery pack testing.
4. Understanding of quality tools like Poka yoke, 7QC Tools, 8D Analysis, Why-Why Analysis, and Six Sigma.
5. Knowledge of test parameters for BMS and process audits of Battery Electrical Modules.
6. Working knowledge of BMS, MCU, Battery Modules, and Battery Pack levels.
7. Proficiency in NPD, Process Audit, and QMS.
8. Ability to troubleshoot installation, integration, and line prove-out problems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, E&T, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Skills:
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Experience with Teamcenter software.
