Offer description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Paediatric Physiotherapist to join our Acute Paediatric Physiotherapy Team. You will provide highly specialised Physiotherapy assessment, treatment and support to families for children and young people (CYP) age 0-18 across a range of sub‑specialty areas such as Neonates, Respiratory, MSK, Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Oncology. The service is delivered in predominantly hospital, out‑patient and clinic settings, however care is also provided in some community settings on an infrequent basis and the post‑holder may have the opportunity to travel to other areas of the Highlands to cover peripheral clinics as required. Working autonomously, you will support CYP to optimise their health, well‑being and achieve their potential.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the successful candidate will take a key leadership role within the service and wider Physiotherapy Department, alongside other Band 7 Physiotherapists. This includes supporting the day to day co‑ordination of team activities, supervising and developing less experienced Physiotherapists and students, contributing to service development and undertaking managerial tasks.

Ideally you will have clinical expertise or a desire to develop clinical expertise and take on a lead role in the service development and evaluation in either Respiratory Care or Neonatal care including Neonatal Follow Up. Depending upon the experience of the successful candidate, specific service and clinical responsibilities can be negotiated with the other Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists in the Team.

We are a small and friendly team with a wealth of expertise across the sub‑specialty areas we cover and are committed to delivering high‑quality care to our patients and supporting each other to develop both professionally and clinically. We work alongside and in collaboration with a fantastic and supportive MDT including doctors, nurses and our community AHP colleagues.

The successful applicant will participate in the emergency duty respiratory on‑call service. An active continuous professional development programme/staff appraisal systems are in operation within the Physiotherapy Department.

Informal enquiries welcome to: Karen Brandie (Karen.brandie@nhs.scot)
