Instrument Pipefitter / Instrumentation Pipefitter To install, assemble, test, and maintain impulse lines, tubing, and piping systems that connect process instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices) to main process equipment, ensuring safe and accurate operation. Must have installed Nylon airline pipe. Installation Work · Install small-bore tubing (SS, copper, carbon steel). · Fabricate and install impulse lines for pressure, level, and flow transmitters. · Install valves (manifolds, needle valves, block & bleed). · Mount field instruments and instrument supports. · Read and interpret P&IDs and isometric drawings, hook-up drawings · Install instrument air lines and pneumatic tubing. Fabrication · Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes/tubes. · Perform tube bending using manual/hydraulic benders. · Prepare compression fittings (Swagelok, Parker, etc.). Valves and manifolds. Testing & Commissioning · Leak testing (hydrotest / pneumatic test). · Pressure testing of impulse lines. · Flushing and cleaning of instrument lines. · Assist with loop checking during commissioning. Pneumatic systems · Process instrumentation basics · Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, API). Maintenance · Repair leaks and replace damaged tubing. · Troubleshoot blocked impulse lines. · Perform preventive maintenance. Typical Tools & Equipment Used · Tube benders. · Pipe threaders. · Cutting tools. · Torque wrenches. · Pressure testing equipment. · Measuring tools. Qualifications · Trade certification in Pipefitting / Mechanical / Instrumentation. · Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or power plant projects. Safety Requirements · ECS / CCNSG or similar · Knowledge of industrial safety standards. · PPE compliance. · Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. · Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
