Lead Environmental Consultant
Location: Cheshire
Duration: 6-month contract
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate: £45–55 per hour (Ltd)

We are working with a growing SME consultancy who are seeking an experienced Lead Environmental Consultant to support a range of environmental and sustainability projects. This is a key role, offering autonomy and the opportunity to lead technical delivery while working closely with clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage environmental consultancy projects from inception through to delivery
Provide technical expertise across environmental impact assessments, environmental management, and regulatory compliance
Act as the technical authority, reviewing reports and ensuring high-quality outputs
Liaise with clients, regulators, and project teams to ensure environmental requirements are met
Support and mentor junior consultants within the business
Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental processes and best practice
Requirements – Education and Experience
A degree in a relevant environmental discipline
Excellent knowledge of environmental legislation and policy
Professional affiliation with or membership of an appropriate professional body
Significant relevant experience in a consultancy environment or other relevant industry experience
Experience of providing competent environmental advice to clients and colleagues
Strong customer focus, striving for excellence by understanding, anticipating, and meeting the needs of others
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously
Proven leadership skills
Strong IT skills, including knowledge of Office 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint
Full UK driving licence
Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
