Mental Health Healthcare Assistant - Inpatients

We are looking for caring, compassionate and motivated individuals to join our Mental Health Inpatient Services as Healthcare Assistants across a range of specialist settings, including Forensic, Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU), Acute, Rehabilitation, Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), Dementia Older People and Place of Safety units. Appointments will only be made to wards/units where vacancies are available. Preferences will be discussed at interview, however allocation will be based on both candidate suitability and service requirements.
Main Duties of the Job
* Support the delivery of care needs by carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
* Contribute to the evaluation of programmes of care by reporting to the clinical supervisor.
* Provide high‑quality mental health care to service users to promote recovery, maintain safety for all, and assist in service and good practice developments.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience
Essential
* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience.
* Experience working with patients with complex care in any of the following: Dementia Older People Mental Health, Forensic Mental Health, Rehabilitation Mental Health, Acute Mental Health, Psychiatric Intensive Care, Children Adolescent Mental Health, Place of Safety.
Desirable
* Knowledge of recovery and rehabilitation principles.
Skills and Aptitude
Desirable
* Practical skills associated with monitoring patients' physical health.
Knowledge and Abilities
Essential
* Ability to encourage and support service users to engage in meaningful activities and decision‑making about their care.
