Hitachi Rail is looking for enthusiastic self-motivated Maintenance Technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position is based in Derby at Etches Park Train Maintenance Centre.
Hitachi Rail are offering an exciting opportunity to join its growing UK Services business by joining the Etches Park team in Derby. The fleet consists of 33 five car class 810 Bi mode trains that will revolutionise rail in Derby.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career in rail as NO railway experience is required for this role.
Accountabilities
In this exciting role, you will be undertaking corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets. This is a permanent role working on a rotating day and night shift basis.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
1. Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on rolling stock within the TMC in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.
2. Undertake servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
3. Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.
4. Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
5. Ensure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
6. Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
7. Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
8. Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
9. Support the Maintenance Team Leaders and Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
10. Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
11. Working shifts to meet the service requirements of Hitachi customers within the TMC.
12. Assist as required.
About you
Required Skills/ Knowledge.
13. Can comfortably work within a team or on their own
14. Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations (internal and external)
15. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
16. Calm and diplomatic under pressure.
17. Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
18. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
19. Able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
20. Loyal, committed, confident and determined.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge
21. Intermediate IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
22. Reading electrical, pneumatic, mechanical schematics and drawings reading
23. Fire warden, First Aider
24. Powered plant and tools – cranes, air systems / 110v tools.
25. Depot Protection
26. Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation
Education/Qualifications
27. Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines or
28. Engineering based NVQ level 3.
