The role
As a Service Desk Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Play a pivotal role in supporting the Submarine Development Agency, delivering critical services that contribute directly to the UK Ministry of Defence’s submarine capability. This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact defence projects within a mission-driven environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead a team of application support analysts responsible for managing a high volume of incidents from Royal Navy personnel, Ministry of Defence civilians, and industry partners—ensuring timely resolution, service continuity, and customer satisfaction across all support channels.
1. Resolve customer issues and provide accurate information.
2. Prioritise tasks and delegate effectively to ensure positive outcomes.
3. Deliver prompt, courteous customer service across all channels.
4. Support software maintenance through diagnostic and corrective actions.
5. Record activities and update customers in line with service agreements.
This role is full time 35 hours per week and is based on site at Babcock Technology Centre.
Essential experience of the Service Desk Engineer
6. Proven leadership in developing and managing service desk teams.
7. Skilled in mentoring, incident management, and stakeholder engagement.
8. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.
9. Experienced in supporting bespoke web applications and ITSM tools.
10. Working knowledge of SQL/Oracle databases; familiarity with Staffware and Oracle WebCenter - Desirable
