This post creates an ideal opportunity to join a friendly, professional Oral Maxillofacial Surgery team in Scotland’s Granite City.
NHS Grampian is seeking to recruit a full time Maxillofacial Prosthetists/Reconstructive Scientist (Agenda for Change Band 8a). The successful applicant will need to hold current registration with the GDC/HCPC and preferably hold full membership of the IMPT.
The Maxillofacial Laboratory provides a fully comprehensive, regional Maxillofacial Prosthetics covering the North East of Scotland and Highlands/Islands. We provide service for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry joint head and neck cancer cases, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Occupational Health, Neuro Surgery, Dermatology and Ear Nose and Throat surgery.
The main duties of the post include:
* Provide a highly specialist Clinical Technical/Maxillofacial Prosthetic service for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Occupational Therapy, Neuro Surgery, Dermatology and Ear Nose and Throat surgery.
* Provide scientific and advisory services to patients for their rehabilitation by restoration using implants, splints and prostheses within key areas of craniofacial reconstruction, congenital malformations of the face, jaw and head and neck malignancies.
* Design and construct Oral Cancer appliances, Splint Therapy, Sleep Apnea and Post operative appliances with the highest degree of individual skill and responsibility.
* The post holder will participate in Orthognathic surgery planning and diagnostic treatment planning.
* Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff.
* Participates in 1:4 on call service providing 24 hour emergency support to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and associated staff.
The successful applicant will be based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the main North East of Scotland’s Teaching Hospital.
