Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. Construction Delivery Manager
The Construction Delivery Manager will support the delivery of an area within a specific section of the Works. This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities, reporting to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and includes logistics planning and implementation in collaboration with the site wide logistics team, programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities’ obligations and conditions and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the contract partners in their delivery of the works packages to enable efficient delivery of the of their sections of works.
* Recommend temporary measures to mitigate against safety and/or quality concerns. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to avoid the cessation of works. This includes but is not limited to review of documents, assurance audits etc.
* Monitor works on site and input into the construction daily report to ensure information is reported up through the organisation to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and escalate any issues/concerns via detailed reports.
* Proactively communicate/co-ordinate with other site teams (H&S, contract, project controls, logistics) and Construction Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported. This will also include attendances at pre-start briefings and supporting the delivery of key messages to the contractor’s organisation.
* Attend PLOD/PLOW meetings with the contractor, ensure outputs are recorded and issued to the SCDM.
* Undertake safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project HSPI’s.
* Ensure clear, two-way communication with the Senior Construction Delivery Manager so that all activity and issues are directed appropriately
Education, Experience and Skills
* Experience and knowledge of construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
* Good understanding of the post holder’s obligations under CDM Regulations.
* Working knowledge in the delivery of projects.
* Be able to write informative, concise and meaningful reports
* Motivate and energise contract partners by building a climate of trust and understanding and actively seeking alternative views and opinions.
* Possess excellent organisation and communication skills.
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Construction management, or equivalent vocational training and experience.
* SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder
