Our Hastings tēma is looking for a Kaitohutohu | Advisor. This role reports to the Manukura | Team Leader, Hastings and is a permanent and full-time opportunity.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
This role offers a unique opportunity to support meaningful change by working in partnership with Māori communities, whānau, hapū, iwi, and other government agencies. A key aspect of this position will be strengthening relationships and delivering outcomes for Māori communities, ensuring local aspirations are translated into actionable policy and initiatives that improve long‑term social and economic outcomes for Māori.
The likely appointment range is $76,213 - $84,680 based on skills and experience.
You will possess strong writing skills and the ability to tailor your writing for different audiences. You will be a critical thinker with the ability to identify and articulate the real issues and why they exist. You will support the development and implementation of initiatives that aim to improve long‑term economic and social outcomes for Māori, based on these identified issues.
You will also bring:
* A willingness to build strong relationships with Māori communities, iwi, hapū, whānau and other government agencies
* Demonstrated technical writing skills
* Critical thinking & analysis – able to assess information, identify issues, and provide sound advice
* Organisation & time management – managing multiple priorities and delivering to deadlines
* Influence & negotiation – progressing conversations, aligning different parties, managing competing interests
* Attention to detail – ensuring accuracy
* Understanding of te reo me ōna tikanga
* An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognising the importance of the Treaty/Tiriti from both Māori and Crown perspectives
A clean full driver's licence would be advantageous.
