Job Responsibilities
This position supports the corporate accounting function by completing the following:
* Gather, analyze and prepare data for financial reports which may involve the application of advanced principles of accounting.
* Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations and analyzes for both month-end and year-end closing.
* Reconcile and analyze trial balance accounts monthly, review reconciliations prepared by others, and promptly research and correct variances.
* Maintain books and records in accordance with department policies and procedures and GAAP.
* Identify exceptions and problems affecting accounting records, communicate same to management, and assist in their resolution.
* Assist with preparation of financial data presented in the monthly package for the Board of Directors.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls.
* Conduct internal audit procedures as required.
* Prepare clear, complete and accurate accounting reports and working papers with high attention to detail.
* Prepare working papers for the annual financial statement audit and annual tax return.
* Prepare and file various tax and regulatory reporting as required.
* Assist Controller with a variety of other tasks, as needed
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* 3+ years related work experience
* Completion of college or university program in accounting, finance or related field
* Knowledge of ASPE and GAAP
* Knowledge or corporate tax, payroll tax and commodity taxes
* Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills
* Ability to perform complex accounting and financial record-keeping activities
* Competent at analyzing data and drawing logical conclusions
* Adept at working with management to influence/facilitate change, implement strategy and accomplish objectives
* Possess exceptional organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage time and multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment
* Display strong interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
