Job title: Principal Marine Engineer - Platform Systems Location: Portsmouth - Onsite only Salary: Circa £52,000-£56,500 (dependent on skills and experience) What you'll be doing: Assists in the production of estimates, creates and/or assists in the production of design requirement specifications Undertake functional design and/or provide qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety Develops, promotes and shares new technologies for implementation across businesses and programme(s) Acts as Engineering, technical or design authority for a sub-system or Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) Provides technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a discipline, may occasionally lead a team of engineers including line management responsibility Works independently or as part of a small team A highly experienced professional engineer, has a depth and breadth of knowledge in a discipline area Be a member of a relevant professional body and registered as a Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or be working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng), or be able to demonstrate that they have been working at the level of a Chartered Engineer for some period of time Your skills and experiences: Significant level of knowledge, understanding and experience in a wide range of engineering areas to enable the successful execution of the principal accountabilities of the role It is expected that the role holder shall have in-depth knowledge in some technical areas, shall have sufficient breadth of technical knowledge/experience to make sound engineering decisions in all technical areas and shall seek support from specialist engineers where necessary Experience in the following systems: Auxiliary systems including, HVAC, Fuel Systems, Gas Turbine Services, Fresh Water Services, Sea Water Services, Black and Grey Water Systems, Bilge and Sullage Systems, Gas Systems, Intake and Exhaust Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Lube Oil and Hydraulics Safety, including being able to provide demonstrable experience of taking responsibility for safety decisions using sound safety management processes/tools is desirable Identification of appropriate requirements for Auxiliary systems and verification/validation activities to manage risk and demonstrate compliance is desirable Closing Date: 14th August 2025
